The nuclear wave function of 15N is derived from an irreducible representation of the Lorentz group without any attempt to describe the dynamics of individual nucleons although the space in which they move may be determined by geometry. This wave function in the Figure shows a giant resonance that may be quenched by a very high frequency π/4 out of phase that will cause the nucleus to freeze. Evidence is provided in the stratosphere where cirrus ice clouds are observed in an environment full of N and cosmic rays but with no aerosols present. Freezing of supercooled water droplets has also been observed in the laboratory.
