Classical Equations of Motion in Gravitational and Electromagnetic Fields from a Variational Principle

Abstract
A variational principle which has appeared previously is further developed, made rigorous and applied to a specific Lagrangian. This method produces the equations of motion for a massive, charged particle moving in gravitational and electromagnetic fields. Several interesting consequences of these results are discussed.
