Abstract
In this study, generalized rational type contraction mappings and its research is done in the framework of extended rectangular b-metric space (Erbms) under the condition that rational type contraction mappings have unique fixed point (Fp). The notion of Erbms is more general than classical metric space, and offers a more general class of mappings. Conditions are given such that such mappings are shown to have a unique Fp. The theorems proved, extend a multitude of classical results. For instance, an example that meets the necessary conditions is also given, to illustrate the theoretical results. A practical application of an integral equations is also provided. Under appropriate conditions it has been shown that these equations can be solved efficiently by the Fp results.
