Abstract

A direct method for the calculation of cubic turning points and cusps is presented. The method starts with the original system and augment it with a minimal number of equations that characterize the singularity. We will show that the resulting extended system will then be nonsingular under the canonical cusp conditions. Numerical examples will be presented to demonstrate the efficiency of the method.
