      <abstract>
        <p>The Governance Mechanism plays an influential role in deciding the scheme’s fate. The present study is an attempt to report the governance mechanism of MGNREGS at the grassroots in Haryana. The study found that poor implementation has transformed demand-driven scheme into supply-based scheme. Execution lacunas have restrained people from enjoying the rights provided by the act. Local stakeholders should be encouraged to participate in strengthening the scheme. The study strongly recommends the three-tier governance mechanism to investigate the matters of implementation meticulously, revitalize the governance strategy, and use the latest information and communication technology to enhance the operational efficiency of the mega employment scheme.</p>
