      <abstract>
        <p>In this work, a variant of the Picard–Ishikawa hybrid scheme is introduced which is designed for approximation of fixed points for contractive mappings in Banach spaces. The corresponding iterative sequence is shown to be stable and to approach the fixed point more rapidly than a known Picard–S process. Furthermore, data dependence results associated with the process are obtained. These findings demonstrate that suitable modifications of existing hybrid iterations can significantly enhance convergence performance.</p>
